To do a good job for you on your wedding day, I want to get to know who you and your future spouse are as people. It only seems fair that I let you know who I am, too, and what value I can bring.

I'm a lawyer-turned-wedding planner who left the corporate law firm grind to chase my passion of celebrating love and bringing your vision to life.

Long story (sort of) short:

I met the love of my life, Evan, in college in Peoria, Illinois. We moved to Chicago after graduation and six months later we were engaged! I was in law school and loved planning our wedding. Since then, we've adopted a cat, Piper, and welcomed our beautiful daughter, Ellie. As you can see, things can be chaotic, but we are so grateful for a home filled with love.

After finishing law school, I accepted a job at a large firm downtown. In the years that I practiced law, I had amazing opportunities working on multi-million and billion dollar deals, reviewing elaborate contracts and offering hundreds of hours of pro bono services to nonprofit organizations.

However, I realized that I was craving a change. I wanted to be creative, have autonomy over every aspect of my work product, and provide services I'm truly passionate about. Enter: wedding planning.

With the support of my husband and my family, I decided to go for it: leave lawyer life, start my own business, and chase this dream. Playing a role in making my clients' wedding dreams come true is such an incredible honor that I'm thankful for every single day.

The Long Version

Planning My Own Wedding

I married the love of my life, Evan, in 2021 and planned every last detail of my wedding myself. I was in my first year of law school and—believe it or not—wedding planning was the thing that kept me sane. My best friend (who stood by me on my wedding day) would make fun of me for working on spreadsheets and inspiration boards in class. Then, Covid hit. Because of my (admittedly sometimes extreme) Type-A personality, we had booked our venue only a few weeks after getting engaged. Our date was set for May 2021, so we were in limbo for quite a while. Per the Governor’s Order, no space could hold more than fifty people. It was hard to cut our guest list down from our anticipated 170, but we did it. When—all of a sudden—a spark of hope: vaccines. Out of seemingly nowhere, our venue’s capacity doubled overnight! Only two months out from our wedding day, I had to call all of our vendors to double everything: double flowers for table centerpieces, double meals, double cupcakes, double the hotel block, double the chairs... you get it. It was chaotic and took a lot of adaptability from our family, friends, and vendors. And at the end of it all? It was the most beautiful, amazing day I ever could have hoped for. After rolling with those punches and having my dream day at the end of it.

Professional Journey

Maybe it's the eldest daughter syndrome (sorry to my girl), but I've always set my sights high and worked to achieve lofty goals, even when I didn't have a clear end-point in sight.  As I wrapped up my undergraduate career with dual degrees in Creative Writing and Communication, I didn't know what I wanted my next step to be. I decided to apply to law schools, with the mindset that, while I wasn't sure I wanted to be a lawyer, I would undoubtedly learn valuable research, writing and communication skills. Through channeling my inner Elle Woods, I earned a full-tuition scholarship, graduated summa cum laude and landed a job in the financial sector at a big law firm. Despite the analytical nature of the legal field, I've always harbored a passion for creative pursuits. I realized that while I went to law school with the idea that this education would arm me with tools to follow my heart, I'd lost sight of this bigger picture: I wanted my JD to be a tool to help me follow my dreams; not an edict requiring me to take the "best" job I could get my hands on.  The transition to planning merged the skills I went to law school to learn—legal acumen, financial proficiency, project management expertise, and effective research—with my creative background in writing and communication into a beautifully executed celebration of love. I am thrilled to channel my passion for meticulous planning, attention to detail, and dedication to creating unforgettable experiences into crafting dream weddings for couples and to make a career out of bringing joy to people's lives.

The Fun Stuff

As I mentioned above, I think it's important for us to get to know each other in order for our collaboration to truly sing, so here's a bit more about me: I love reality TV. I'm a big fan of the Netflix Cinematic Universe (Love Is Blind, The Ultimatum, Perfect Match, etc.). I love a suspenseful drama, too—as long as it's not too scary. I've gotten super into Silo and Severance (did anyone see that season ending coming!?). Freaky Friday (2003) is my comfort movie. I rekindled my love for reading after taking the bar exam. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo really reignted my interest, and then I got sucked into the Sarah J. Maas universe. Jodi Picoult is my favorite author. I grew up dancing and continued through college. I taught dance to littles and absolutely loved it. I still try to get to a drop-in ballet class when I get the chance! I took up rollerblading as a pandemic hobby to keep active, and I love spending cool summer evenings on the Lakefront Trail on my blades. I love live music—in the last couple years, I got to see several of my favorite artists. Taylor Swift, Noah Kahan, Bleachers and Zolita, to name a few. I could eat sushi every day, and I am a sucker for a good bowl of ramen. My husband is an excellent cook, so thankfully he handles dinner most nights. He makes an excellent harissa chicken couscous bowl that I could just die for. Things I dislike: scary movies, extra spicy food, most nonfiction books, any day over 100 degrees, and yucking someone's yum. What I mean by that last one is that I will never tell you that you shouldn't have something at your wedding because it's "tacky." I don't believe in tacky. Just because something isn't what I would want for myself doesn't mean that it can't be a valuable addition to your day. I'm here to help you block out the haters on your wedding day and keep your eyes on what makes your heart happy.
